I know this is an unpopular opinion, but Roqaun Smith would be on the first train smoking. We are trying to build a championship contender and can't do that with greedy players. He should go chase his bag while we bring in players that want to win that ring and see everyone on the team secure a bag. How is he going to be the highest paid linebacker with no rings on his fingers? Can he take this Bears team to the Superbowl? I doubt it and until he does, we don’t have anything to talk about! If he is that good, why didn't the Bears make the Playoffs? He obviously needs help; and how can his team get him help when they can’t pay anyone else around him?
I keep hearing people say, “he's all we got” or “he's our best player”. So, is that why we pay people these days? I would rather be contending for championships than be a “he's all we got team” forever
We really have to start understanding these contracts and salary caps. We can't give that type of money and be a contender. I'm sorry but last I checked he's not Tom Brady - meaning he is not the missing piece to a championship. If he wants to be paid the top linebacker in the league, then take he should take his team to the playoffs first.
He acts like he is good enough by himself to take us to the playoffs. Did I miss something? I'm pretty sure all those tackles translate to a playoff team… so No quan it's not happening!!!
